The Construction Engineering Technology program strives to establish in each graduate a foundation of practical knowledge and hands -on experience upon which to build a successful career in construction-related fields. Professional, engaged, and qualified faculty work to provide a well-rounded and rigorous construction engineering technology curriculum that contours to the needs of the local industry. Students, faculty, and staff are committed to the values of quality work, professionalism, high ethical standards, and service to the college and local communities.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
The program educational objectives support the program mission statement.
- Obtain gainful employment in the construction, engineering or architectural industry, with opportunities for advancement.
- Pursue baccalaureate degrees in construction or engineering technology management, or associated fields of applied science;
- Develop professionally through continued learning, service to the local and global communities, on the job training, and engagement in discipline-specific organizations that foster these opportunities; such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Associated General Contractors (AGC), the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), or the American Institute of Architects (AIA);
- Obtain industry recognized certifications through organizations like American Concrete Institute (ACI), National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), State Department of Transportation (DOT), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), or the International Code Council (ICC).

Upon graduating from this program of study, students will demonstrate:
- an ability to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technology activities
- an ability to apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require limited application of principles but extensive practical knowledge
- an ability to conduct standard tests and measurements, and to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments
- an ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team an ability to identify, analyze, and solve narrowly defined engineering technology problems
- an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and nontechnical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature
- an understanding of the need for and an ability to engage in self -directed continuing professional development
- an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity
- a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement utilizing modern instruments, methods and techniques to implement construction contracts, documents, and codes
- evaluating materials and methods for construction projects
- an ability to utilize techniques that are appropriate to administer and evaluate construction projects
- an ability to estimate costs, estimate quantities, and evaluate materials for construction projects
- an ability to utilize measuring methods, hardware, and software that are appropriate for field, laboratory, and office processes related to construction
- an ability to apply fundamental computational methods and elementary analytical techniques in sub-disciplines related to construction engineering
