Admissions Checklist for International Students
Complete the Admissions Application
- Select “International” when asked to select an application type.
- International students that are seeking a degree can choose an option when asked to select a program of study.
- International students that are only visiting from another college should choose “Transient” when asked to select a program of study.
- Non-immigrant visa holders that are only taking incidental study should choose “Special” when asked to select a program of study.
- You should receive an email with your student ID number and TigerWeb login information within 5 business days of submitting your application.

International / Immigration Documents
- Provide copies of passport, I-94, and Visa. Current international students must also provide their most recent I-20.
Financial Support
- F-1 visa holders and applicants must provide evidence they can meet the yearly estimated cost of attendance.
English Proficiency Test (TOEFL)
- All applicants whose native language is not English must provide documentation of language proficiency:
- TOEFL minimum score 61 within 2 years
- IELTS minimum score 5.5 within 2 years
- Duolingo English Test minimum score 90 within 2 years
- Completion of U.S. high school diploma or U.S. high school equivalency test
- Completion of Composition I with a “C” or better from a U.S college
Submit Official High School and College Transcripts
- Provide originals or certified copies of all mark sheets, transcripts, diplomas and leaving certificates from high school or secondary school. A certified translation must be provided when originals are not in English.
- Request official transcripts from all prior U.S. colleges or universities.
- Applicants that have attended a college or university outside of the U.S. are required to submit course-by-course evaluations from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Course descriptions and syllabi may be needed to award the transfer credit recommended on the evaluation.
Official Standardized Test Scores (ACT, SAT, etc.)
- Standardized test scores are used to determine placement math, reading, and writing placement levels. Scores must be less than five years old based on the student's expected start date.

- Applicants that have not taken an ACT, SAT, or another acceptable standardized test can take placement testing through the Chattanooga State Testing Center. The test offered is the Accuplacer Next Generation, and the first attempt is free.
- Transfer credit may be used in place of placement testing in some situations.
- Applicants that do not provide any placement testing will be placed in math, reading, and writing learning support co-requisite classes.
