President's Update - November 11, 2020

Dear Chattanooga State Family,

On this Veteran’s Day, I would like to thank all of the veterans in our college community for their service.

The Thanksgiving holiday is almost here, and I am so grateful for your hard work and determination that has brought us this far in the semester with great success.

As we continue to monitor COVID-19, we recognize cases are on the rise in our community. Additionally, suspected or known cases of COVID-19 on campus have increased demands for cleaning and disinfecting, and we are nearing our capacity to efficiently clean these spaces. Based on this information, we will begin the transition from the current Phase 3 to a slightly modified Phase 2 to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The only modification to Phase 2 is that both the Child Development Center and Food Services OMNI Café will remain open during Phase 2.

Student Resources: We’re Here to Help

If you are able to work and learn from home, please do so as we make the shift to Phase 2. If you need to come to campus for class, work or teaching, you may still continue to do so. Also, please keep wearing your mask when you are on campus or out in the community. Please stay home if you are sick. We want you to be healthy, and we need your help in keeping our campus and community healthy as well. We are resilient. We are innovative. We are united. We are ChattState.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Ashford, Ed.D.
President

Campus Pandemic Phase of Operation Moving to Modified Phase 2

Beginning Thursday, November 12, Chattanooga State Community College will begin the transition from Phase 3 to a slightly modified Phase 2 of the Campus Pandemic Phases of Operation.

We have asked each Division to collect and submit names and A numbers for those students and employees  who will need to be on campus effective this Monday, November 16, 2020.

Overview of Modified Phase 2:

  • Effective this Thursday, Main Campus and all instructional sites will be closed to the public unless by appointment only.
  • Our plan is to fully transition to the modified Phase 2 beginning Monday, November 16.
  • During Phase 2, all virtual and online courses will continue as scheduled. Faculty will notify students via email or eLearn about any change to hybrid course expectations.
  • Services for current and prospective students/employees will be provided primarily virtually or via phone/email; restricted access by appointment is available only on a limited basis. For example, the Testing Center, Math Center and Library will be open by appointment.
  • All group meetings will be held in a virtual or online format.
  • The only modification to Phase 2 is that both the Child Development Center and Food Services OMNI Café will remain open during Phase 2
  • We will remain in Phase 2 through at least Friday, January 8, 2021.

The goal of shifting to Phase 2 is to reduce the number of people coming to campus, and we ask for your help. Because we care about the health and safety of our campus community, we are making this shift to do our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
