Dear Chattanooga State Community,
It’s hard to believe it’s November, but Autumn is in the air, and the end of the semester is in sight. Keep working hard for the next few weeks, and you’ll have another semester under your belt.
You may have noticed or heard about the many food drives happening around campus this fall. We have food drives to help different organizations around the Chattanooga Area, but I wanted to draw your attention to our own Tiger Cupboard. The purpose of the Tiger Cupboard is to support students who may need assistance with supplemental food and other necessities. The faculty and staff volunteers who work in the Cupboard ensure that support is provided discreetly to protect the privacy of the students using the service.
If you would like to donate to the Tiger Cupboard, you will find boxes around campus to deliver non-perishable items to. You can also drop your goods off directly at the pantry located on the second floor of the Student Center Room S-215.

Student Spotlight
The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) holds student auditions where students perform and receive written feedback and scores from three adjudicators and are then ranked based on the scores they receive. This fall, ten of our Chattanooga State voice students participated in the Tennessee State NATS Student Auditions, where they were judged by vocal professors and competed against other voice students from across the state of Tennessee. Based on their age and number of semesters studied, they are sorted into categories. They can elect to sing repertoire for one or more genres; our students competed in musical theatre and classical genres. Five of our students placed in their respective categories, with one student winning both the classical and musical theatre category!

- Vivian Long, 1st Place Upper College Musical Theatre
- Moriah Bone, 1st Place Lower College Musical Theatre AND 1st Place Freshman Classical
- Colette Smith, 3rd Place High School Classical

It takes determination, dedication, and perseverance to be the first, plus celebrating “Firsts” is always fun. Our month-long Celebration of First Generation College Students starts today and ends on GivingTuesday, November 29. Please join us for 29 Days of Thanks and Giving as we celebrate Meaningful Mondays, Testimonial Tuesdays, Where Are They Now Wednesdays, Throwback Thursdays, and Fun Fridays. Please make plans to join us for National First Gen College Student Day on Tuesday, November 8. We will have First Gen buttons, a photo booth, a message board and more! All events will be held on our main campus located at 4501 Amnicola Highway and are open to the public:

- Join us for a panel discussion of the personal experiences of local leaders who are first generation alumni and graduates
1:00pm: First Gen Support Services Student Panel, Library Mobile Classroom
- Join us for a panel discussion with current students and professionals from our Student Support Center

4:30 - 6:00pm: First Gen & Friends Mix & Mingle, CETAS Room 107
- Join us for a casual networking event with booths on university transfer & career options

Virtual art gallery submissions are due by Dec. 9, 2022, to allow students time to create work based on this year’s theme “Tennessee on my Mind.”
The fifth annual SOAR celebration is set for March 28-29, 2023, in Nashville.
