July 13, 2022 (Chattanooga, TN) --- Chad Jaynes has been appointed as the dean of the Business and Industry Division at Chattanooga State Community College effective July 1. Mr. Jaynes first joined the Chattanooga State family in 2016 as manager of solutions development in the Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) Division. He was appointed as interim dean of the Business Division in April 2021, just prior to his recent appointment as permanent dean.
In his role through the EWD, Jaynes advised area businesses on development, programs, and created customized training solutions, which led to a significant increase in workforce training hours and revenue for the college, while also providing opportunities for participants to gain new skills that increased their marketability in the workforce and compete in a global market.
As interim dean, Jaynes worked with faculty and staff to increase enrollment for students within existing and new programs or certificates. Part of this work included leading a Correctional Education project for incarcerated individuals before they returned to the workforce.
In his role as dean, Mr. Jaynes will supervise and direct support services to personnel and the programs within the Business and Industry Division. He will shape academic strategy to promote and assist in the development of new courses and programs based on local and regional needs while adhering to the College’s strategic plan, initiate collaborative programs and articulation agreements with baccalaureate institutions, and lead divisional initiatives to expand early postsecondary opportunities for high school students.
We are thrilled to have Mr. Jaynes in this leadership role at the College,” stated Dr. Beth Norton, vice president for Academic Affairs. Citing Mr. Jaynes experience in the College’s Workforce Development office, she says that Jaynes brings strong connections with our area business and industry partners to his role as Dean of Business and Industry. “These connections will be crucial to ensure that our academic programs remain strong and relevant to support our community’s needs.”
“Working with talented and dedicated colleagues, I am blessed to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life every day,” stated Mr. Jaynes. “I’m fortunate to have this opportunity to support and empower everyone in our community to learn without limits.”
Dean Jaynes holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mississippi State University. He is a graduate of ChattLEAD, TNTrained, and Leadership Hamilton County Schools. He currently serves as a board member of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center.
