Dear Chattanooga State Family, 

Welcome to the fall 2021 semester at Chattanooga State! We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus on Monday! For many of our returning students, this will be your first semester on the physical campus. For some, you are returning after learning virtually for the last year and a half. For our new students, welcome to your new home! 

Whether you are returning or new, I hope that the fall semester exceeds your expectations and that you will learn without limits at Chattanooga State.

Return to Campus 

Classes begin August 16! Be ready for day one by checking our Fall 2021 Update.  

How to read your schedule 

Did you know T is the abbreviation for Tuesday and R is the abbreviation for Thursday? That’s right if you have an R on your schedule for days your class meets, it means it meets on Thursdays. If you have a TR on your schedule, that means your class meets Tuesday and Thursday. Check out this video for other important information on how to read your ChattState schedule. 

Pay close attention to Start Date and End Date on your schedule. Our new 7-week classes mean some of your classes will start August 16 and some of your classes may start on October 11. Your 1st session classes will begin August 16. Your 2nd session classes will begin October 11.  

Take note of location on your schedule. If VIRTUAL or ONLINE, you can find out more about these instructional methods in our Fall 2021 Update page; be sure to check in your eLearn News to find your instructor’s expectations for meeting. If there is a building number such as OMN B118, that means you will meet on campus in the Omniplex building Room B118. Be sure to check out our interactive map to find your classroom. 

How to use eLearn

We use a system called eLearn at ChattState. Your professors will use this system to deliver information on your classes, email you about your class, and place other important information about your class. To login click, MyChattState at the top, left-hand side of ChattanoogaState.EDU, then choose eLearn. If you need assistance with eLearn tools, visit the eLearn Assistance page or, for after-hours eLearn help, call 1-866-895-8429. 

Available computer labs across campus

The library will be open and computers will be available for homework and online/virtual class attendance. Group study spaces, individual study spaces, and library classrooms will not be open. Library access is by appointment only. Click here for more information.
Engineering and IT students will have access to Rooms 215 and 216 in the Wacker Institute on a first-come, first-served basis. 

TCAT students will have access to TCAT 60 and TCAT 38 computer labs. Please note, these labs may be closed for testing purposes a few times per week. You should confirm hours of operation with your TCAT instructors.

Additional space may be made available as the need arises.

A couple of other notes about your classes. 

  • If your course section type is R01, R25, R35, R50, or R80, you are enrolled in a TN eCampus course and should visit the TN eCampus site to login or the TN eCampus information page for help.  
  • All classes with Sections PS# reflect the Central Time Zone (10AM Central is 11AM Eastern time). These classes are scheduled at the Kimball Site, and class times listed are based on the local time (Central Time) in Marion County. Be sure to note whether the class is in-person or virtual.
     

Phase 4 with a Mask Recommendation 

ChattState is currently operating in our Phase 4 of operations. We are following the CDC’s recommendation for masks. Based on this recommendation, ChattState recommends that everyone wear masks indoors while on campus, regardless of vaccination status. Self-Report a Covid Positive Diagnosis
During this semester, if you experience a positive COVID diagnosis, we request that you let us know through our Student/Staff/Faculty or Visitor/Economic Workforce Development self-reporting forms. For more information read, “How to Use the COVID-19 Self Reporting Form.” 
 

Student Resources—We’re Here to Help

  • Emergency Aid: The Student Support Center is available to assist students struggling to meet their basic needs. Please use the Wellness Check on TigerWeb to let us know if you need assistance. 
  • Technology Support: Devices (laptops, hotspots, etc.) are available through the College. To request a device, complete the technology request form. Technology will continue to be available for students as long as they remain enrolled. 
  • Support Services: Chattanooga State is dedicated to delivering support services and resources to assist our students. Visit the virtual Student Support Center to learn more about the many services offered. 
  • Academic Resources: Visit the Fall 2021 Update page for a listing of academic resources, including links to the Math Center, Andrews Reading and Writing Center, the Testing Center, Kolwyck Library, and more. 
  • Student Assistance Library Campus Guide: We now have a Campus Guide for students to provide assistance with eLearn / Virtual Classes / Proctoring / Accessibility / etc. 
  • Career Services Center: The Career Services Center is available to provide services online or by phone to Chattanooga State students, alumni, faculty and staff. Services include career counseling & assistance with selecting a major, job search planning, resume writing assistance, interview skills, and more. To schedule an appointment for any service, please call 423-697-4421 or email careers@chattanoogastate.edu. The Career Services Virtual Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Food: The Tiger Cupboard provides supplemental food and other necessities for students in need. Visit for more information. 
  • Tennessee Board of Regents Student Resources: We know that the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak has been causing a great deal of uncertainty, anxiety, and stress for students across Tennessee. Please know that you are not alone.
