Testing Center

The Testing Center provides a professional, secure, and accessible testing environment to students and other examinees who wish to sit for a variety of assessments. By adhering to the National College Testing Association’s (NCTA) Professional Standards & Guidelines, the Testing Center safeguards the confidentiality of all.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP tests are used to grant credit for college-level courses.

College Placement Assessment (Accuplacer)

The Accuplacer exam is required for all students who do not have transfer credit in college English or Math after they are admitted to Chattanooga State. The Accuplacer exam can only be taken two times in total, so know your student A# and which subjects you need to take (Reading, Writing, and/or Math).

    • Tuesdays (1:30pm or 5:30pm)
    • Wednesdays (9am)
    • Thursdays (9am or 5:30pm)
    • Friday (12:30pm)
    • There will be no placement exams given during mid-terms or finals.

Online Exams (eLearn)

Chattanooga State courses that are fully online that must have exams proctored.

TN eCampus Exams

Some TN eCampus courses require proctoring for mid-term and/or final exams. Test and exam dates are set for each course at the beginning of the semester and are included in the course calendar. Students are responsible for scheduling proctoring arrangements well in advance of the exam, as proctoring appointment times may fill quickly. Learn more.

Outside Proctored Exams (other institutions)

Chattanooga State allows for students taking online courses, or students enrolled at other colleges and universities, to take their test or exam on our campus. Before registering, students must email their testing requirements and information to [email protected]. Include in the email:

  • full name
  • university
  • course
  • test dates (if scheduled)
  • type of test (paper or computer)
  • proctor sign-up form

If you do not receive a response in 48 hours, please call 423-697-3366 for guidance.

ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

ATI TEAS is the entrance exam for some Nursing & Allied Health Programs. Check with the Nursing & Allied Health division to find your desired program's application deadline, and whether or not the program requires a TEAS score.

The TEAS may be taken only once every six weeks. Once registered for the exam, preferred cancellation notice is 48 hours prior to the testing date. Learn more.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS Suite)

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification validates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. The MOS Suite exam measures a candidate’s ability to effectively use core Office tools for productivity, document creation, data analysis, presentations, and communication in academic and professional environments.

Testing Center - Policies
 

  • ID Policy
    All students who take an exam in the Testing Center must present a Chattanooga State Student ID, or a government-issued photo ID. Digital copies (picture of ID on cell phone) will not be accepted. Examples of government-issued photo IDs include:
     
    • Driver's License
    • State-issued photo ID
    • Passport
    • Certificate of Naturalization
    • Certificate of Citizenship
    • Government employee ID
    • U.S. military or military dependent ID
    • U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
    • Distance Students: The above policy or ID card from their own institution.
    • Non-Students: Government-issued ID.​
