Summer Financial Aid - Types of Students

In most cases, you will not need to take any additional steps to receive your financial aid for summer. Your aid will post to your account based on your status.

Prospective Student (as of May)

Financial aid will be awarded manually as you register for summer classes. Your eligibility for different types of financial aid must be determined based on how much financial aid you may have already used during the current aid year at any college, university, or technical or vocational school. Your aid eligibility may also depend on your Satisfactory Academic Progress status.

First Time Transfer Students may need to update their school of choice in the TN Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) portal to be eligible for state grants or scholarships: https://clipslink.tsac.tn.gov/studentsignon/. If it is your first time logging into the portal, you will need to register first. Your eligibility for aid when you transfer to Chattanooga State will also depend on meeting SAP guidelines.

Transient or Non-Degree Students planning to take summer classes at Chattanooga State should contact their home school for a consortium agreement. Your home institution will pay financial aid for you to take classes at your host school (Chattanooga State). Contact the Financial Aid Office if you are a Chattanooga State student taking classes at another school during the summer.

Current Student

Your aid will post to your account once you have registered for summer classes. Your available aid will depend on your remaining aid eligibility, enrollment, and Satisfactory Academic Progress status at the end of the spring semester.

Current TCAT Chattanooga Student

For students who started a program in August 2019 or January 2020 and will continue beyond the spring 2020 semester, your aid has already posted for the summer. Your eligibility for aid in May might depend on your completed clock hours and Satisfactory Academic Progress status.

TCAT students, payment of Title IV (federal) aid, such as Pell Grant and Direct Loans, depends on the number of required clock hours you have completed. Your next federal aid payment may be delayed because of the extended spring break, or if there is a later start to summer term classes.
