Dear Chattanooga State Community, I would like to take a moment to congratulate all the students who were recognized last night at our first-ever virtual student awards ceremony--Hats Off to Excellence. We are so proud of the honorees and all of our students who have made it through the spring semester.
As we have transitioned to the summer semester, I anticipate these communications will decrease in frequency, but we will continue to communicate when there are changes to share.
CARES Act Update
We previously communicated that CARES Act funds would be distributed by the end of May. However, late yesterday evening, the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) announced changes to CARES emergency grant payment eligibility. All title IV eligibility related requirements, other than citizenship, have been rescinded. This means that additional students will now be eligible.
We cannot confirm a distribution date at this time but please know that we are working as quickly as possible to determine eligibility based on the new information from the USDOE.
Campus Access / Return to Campus Planning
- In order to gain access to campus, all students, employees, and guests will be required to complete a daily health screening self-assessment. Additionally, anyone on campus will be required to:
- Wear masks while in common areas, confined spaces and shared spaces
- Practice social distancing of at least 6 feet
- Not gather in groups of more than 10 people at any time
- Beginning June 1, campus access will be less restricted; however, appointments will be required for campus visitors. Employees will be notified by their supervisors if they have been approved for campus access during this phase. Any individual coming to campus beginning June 1 will be required to complete the daily health screening self-assessment, as well as follow the guidelines outlined above.
Q. Is it required to complete the daily health screening self-assessment?

Yes. No one will be allowed access to campus without a pass for that specific day. Individuals who have not completed the self-assessment before coming to campus will be directed to a screening station located in the athletic field parking lot to complete the screening self-assessment. Anyone who does not meet the criteria of the screening will not be allowed access to campus.
Q. Can I appeal if I am denied entry to campus based on my answers to the questionnaire?
