Chattanooga State’s Mattson & McCann Recognized at TSBDC Conference

August 3, 2022 (Chattanooga, TN) --- Sarah Mattson, senior small business specialist, and Madison McCann, office supervisor and marketing coordinator, were recently recognized during the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) All Hands Conference.
Ms. Mattson, named a State Star, has been with the TSBDC since 2017. Her areas of expertise include strategic planning, financial analysis and forecasting, business plan development, and accounting. “Sarah’s passionate approach provides candid and constructive direction,” stated Lynn Chesnutt, TSBDC director. “She is best known for helping her clients plan strategically, create systems, and scale their businesses to increase profits.” Ms. Mattson has an MBA from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and is a small business owner herself. As a State Star, Sarah will be recognized in September with 62 other State Stars during America’s Small Business Development Center conference in San Diego.
“We at the TSBDC have all worked tirelessly the last few years to help businesses navigate the pandemic and grow their businesses,” commented Mattson. “Our network consists of an impressive and highly skilled team of experts.” Ms. Mattson is honored to have been recognized by her colleagues and state leaders for the work that she does. “This organization has given me the proper training, resources, and autonomy to do my job in the most effective way. I am very grateful for the award, but even more so to work with such a great network of professionals on a daily basis.”
Serving the TSBDC since 2019, Madison McCann was named the Spotlight Employee for 2022. Mr. Chesnutt appreciates her innovative approach to the Center’s marketing efforts. “Madison implemented a fresh social media strategy, podcast production, and online training offerings for clients,” said Chesnutt. Playing a key role on the TSBDC’s website redesign committee, Ms. McCann is highly respected among her colleagues and the small business community for her expertise and collaboration. “Madison has a work ethic that is second to none and is truly the glue that holds our Chattanooga Center together,” added Chesnutt. Ms. McCann earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Entrepreneurship from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
“It is such an honor to be nominated and selected by my peers for the first-ever Spotlight Award,” stated McCann. “I feel that everyone in our network is deserving of this award and I’m truly so thankful to be recognized for my accomplishments over the past year.”
State Star and Spotlight awards both recognize those individuals who have demonstrated exemplary work performance, made significant contributions to economic development efforts, and exhibited a strong commitment to small business.
