registered nursing program wellness fair for the homeless

The Hennie Gunter Wellness Fair for the Homeless is an annual community service project organized by Chattanooga State Community College senior registered nursing students during their mental health rotation every November.

Now in its eighth year, the Hennie Gunter Wellness Fair continues to be successful when students, businesses, and individuals come together as a community to supply needed items for the homeless. This year, due to COVID-19, the wellness fair had to be modified, and students were not able to physically engage with the clients. However, dental students and nursing students jointly collected items to be donated to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

Students were instrumental in collecting over 400 pairs of socks, as well as undergarments, and more than 1,000 bottles of deodorant and other personal hygiene products. The staff and clients were appreciative of the donations and students expressed that they were richly blessed by participating in this community service project.
