Thanks to the deadline extension granted by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (THEC/TSAC), class of 2021 high school seniors have until December 1, 2020 to apply for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship at the online portal tn.gov/tnpromise.

Tennessee Promise enables recent high school graduates with the opportunity to complete an associate degree, a technical diploma or certificate, or the first two years of a bachelor’s degree without tuition costs. Since its implementation, more than 88,000 students have benefited from Tennessee Promise.

Tennessee Promise provides two years tuition-free at a community or technical college in Tennessee, making its major objective to remove the financial cost of tuition while also providing a volunteer mentor.

Student enrollment personnel at Chattanooga State’s main campus and the instructional sites located in Dayton and Kimball, are ready to provide help if you need assistance.

To be eligible for Tennessee Promise, students must be a Tennessee resident for a year prior to enrollment and graduate from an eligible Tennessee high school or home school program or have a GED or HiSET diploma obtained prior to age 19.

As a last-dollar scholarship, Tennessee Promise covers mandatory tuition, maintenance, technology access and general access/program service fees that are not covered by the Pell Grant, HOPE scholarship, TSSAA, or SEOG.
