Hamilton County Collegiate High at Chattanooga State has been named an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School for 2020 by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. Collegiate High is one of 367 schools in the nation and one of only seven high schools in Tennessee to be recognized.
“I am so very pleased, but not at all surprised, to see that Collegiate High School at Chattanooga State is one of only seven high schools in Tennessee to be named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School,” remarked Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford.
In a letter to Collegiate High Principal Dr. Sonja Rich, Secretary DeVos stated that the USDOE acknowledges the success of Collegiate High students, “as an inspiring example of how teachers, parents, and community leaders can work together to help students prepare for what comes next to help students realize their potential and achieve their dreams.”
Hamilton County Collegiate High at Chattanooga State was established in 2001 as a collaboration between Hamilton County Schools and Chattanooga State Community College. Its mission is to support academic and personal growth preparing students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success, post-secondary and beyond. Since its inception, Collegiate High has served more than 2,000 high school students.
“The students enrolled at Collegiate High receive an exemplary education from outstanding faculty who are led by a dedicated principal—Dr. Sonja Rich. Collegiate High is a shining example of a quality partnership between Hamilton County Schools and Chattanooga State,” extolled Dr. Ashford.
