Dear Chattanooga State Community, we are happy to share more details about our phased-in return to campus plan that will begin next week. Please read this carefully. Also, continue to check for updates. As you know, with the COVID-19 situation, plans change regularly.
Campus Access / Return to Campus Planning
For a successful Return to Campus implementation, new processes and procedures are required to help minimize the risks associated with COVID-19. As we return to campus, we want to reassure you that we are working to ensure the campus facilities are clean and disinfected. We ask all employees and students to assist in the on-going disinfecting effort, in order to maximize the effectiveness of our efforts.. All parties shall follow the CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting, Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facility. As we enter the first phase of returning to campus on May 18, we ask that every student, employee, and visitor accept responsibility for their own health and safety and the health and safety of those around them.
Beginning May 18, while the majority of classes will continue in an online format, a few classes will begin instruction on campus. Faculty have contacted students by email if their class will be held on-campus. Students and employees approved for campus access will be required to complete a daily health screening self-assessment in order to gain access to campus. If you are approved for access, you will receive instructions about the daily screening process by email.
Beginning June 1, campus access will be less restricted; however, appointments will be required for campus visitors. Employees will be notified by their supervisors if they have been approved for campus access during this phase. Employees returning to campus will primarily be in student-facing and public-facing offices. Students and employees approved for campus access in Phase 1 beginning May 18 will continue to have access to campus. Any individual coming to campus will be required to complete a daily health screening self-assessment.
Beginning July 6, we are planning for campus access to be unrestricted. All students and employees will be granted access to campus. Appointments will not be required for visitors. Any individual coming to campus will be required to complete a daily health screening self-assessment.
Beginning May 18 and until further notice, anyone on campus will be required to:
- Answer a series of medical questions screening for COVID-19 symptoms
- Wear masks while in common areas, confined spaces and shared spaces
- Practice social distancing of at least 6 feet
- Not gather in groups of more than 10 people at any time
Please read the detailed Return to Campus Plan available on the College’s COVID-19 Information page. This information is subject to change based on on-going assessments and guidance from local and state government.
Again, please keep checking your email and the college’s COVID-19 website for updates. You will get through this. We will get through this.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Ashford, Ed.D.
