Summer Exit Exam Requirement

The requirement for exit exams will be waived for students completing in the summer terms.

Paid Tutoring Opportunity

To support learning through the summer for rising K-6th grade students and help prevent the learning loss commonly experienced during the summer, the Bill and Crissy Haslam Foundation, in partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs and other Tennessee youth-serving organizations, has launched a new Tennessee Tutoring Corps (TTC) that connects qualified college students with K-6th grade children to provide tutoring in key subjects, including math and reading.

The TTC plans to recruit at least 1,000 qualified college students who are eager to give back to their community and help children continue their education over the summer months. Recognizing that many college students are also experiencing financial strain or loss of employment due to the pandemic, tutors will be compensated with a $1,000 stipend for their work through the duration of the summer program.

Qualified tutors must be current college students and must pass a background check. Preference will be given to those who have a 3.0 GPA or higher, have completed at least their freshman year of college, and are Tennessee residents. If interested, visittntutoringcorps.org to learn more or to submit an application. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 29.
