In conjunction with other leading schools from around the nation, Chattanooga State Community College is holding its third annual National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day (NC3) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21. New TN Promise students for the 2019-20 school year will take part in a signing ceremony, signaling their commitment to attend Chattanooga State, in the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Automotive Bay, Building 3 at 4501 Amnicola Hwy.

This national event sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate the dignity of work. Chattanooga State anticipates signing 35 to 45 high school seniors for a commitment to attend one of the College’s 25 TCAT programs.

More than sixty technical institutions across the country will be hosting signing day ceremonies tied together by live, nationwide simulcasts.. Interested persons can access the Internet feed through this link: https://youtu.be/f0A3FPY7um0

“Chattanooga State is thrilled to host Signing Day and to give our upcoming technical program students the opportunity to reserve their spots in programs that will lead to in-demand careers. We are grateful to our business and industry partners for their support and participation in Signing Day. Their participation shows how critical graduates from our technical programs are in meeting our community’s workforce needs,” states Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford.

Industry leaders also are excited about this opportunity because it validates student’s choices for high demand careers and it provides an opportunity for industry representatives to meet these future workers, said officials. Community leaders are participating along with several of Chattanooga State’s corporate partners to show their support of career and technical education.
