November Music & Theatre Programs Announced

Chattanooga, TN (October 21, 2015) --- The Chattanooga State Fine Arts Department will offer a combination of musical and theatrical productions during the month of November. All performances will be held in the C.C. Bond Humanities Theatre on Chattanooga State’s main campus. Programs are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.

“Once On This Island,” is the first theatrical performance of the fall season slated for November 6, 7, and 8. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  Sherry Landrum directs this Broadway musical, written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, with musical direction by Jennifer Arbogast and choreography by Lindsay Fussell. Free to ChattState students, faculty and staff. General public admission is $15.

The Chattanooga State Symphonic Band, conducted by Nicholas Hartline, will be performing several works by the wind band ensemble consisting of students from ChattState, the STEM School of Chattanooga, and Collegiate High on November 10 at 7:30 p.m.

A Voice Studio Recital, featuring students of Jennifer Arbogast will present an evening of vocal solos, duets, and chamber music on November 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Opera Theatre students from Chattanooga State will collaborate with Opera Theatre programs from other local schools, including Lee University, to present an evening of operatic and theatrical scenes on November 21 at 7:30 p.m.

ChattState music faculty members, Dr. Amanda Hyberger, Dr. Ken Cardillo, and Ms. Cindy Solfest-Wallis will present a chamber music recital on November 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Center for Business, Industry & Health (CBIH) lobby. It will feature the works of classical and American folk traditions for voice, guitar, and flute.

The Chattanooga State Jazz Band will present an evening of great Jazz standards under the musical direction of Jay Stanfill on November 23 at 7:30 p.m.

The Music Department of Chattanooga State will present a recital featuring students of applied music study, including voice, piano, violin, percussion, and guitar on November 24 at 7:30 p.m.
