Chattanooga, TN (September 17, 2015) --- The State of Tennessee has partnered with Dollar General and more than 200 vet-friendly major employers in Tennessee to connect qualified veterans, military service members and spouses with jobs. The “Paychecks for Patriots” hiring fair will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, on the main campus of Chattanooga State Community College in the Health Science Center.

The event will feature local employers interested in putting veterans to work. According to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, employers at the event are required to be offering only full-time positions. Employers are assigned tables through the State of Tennessee.

Employers already confirmed for the event in Chattanooga include Dollar General, R.E. West, Inc., TN Department of Transportation, Five Star Food Services, Titan Transfer, Inc., Averitt, FedEx, CCA, Regions Bank, McKee, Chattem, TN Department of Corrections, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of TN, Plastic Omnium, Lectrus, Blood Assurance, and Hamilton County Emergency Communications District. Developed by Dollar General in 2012, the “Paychecks for Patriots” program partnered with the Tennessee Department of Workforce Development, Department of Military, Veterans Affairs and the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve to address unemployment among military service members, veterans, and spouses. More than 4,000 veterans and service members have taken advantage of this program and more than 300 employers have participated in the program since 2012.
