Chattanooga, TN --- The Daughter’s of the American Revolution (DAR) Judge David Campbell Chapter in Chattanooga recently made a donation toward the Chattanooga State Community College Adult Education program to support the High School Equivalency Testing Fee voucher program that removes a critical barrier for literally hundreds of qualifying test-takers who cannot afford the test fees.

As of July 1, Chattanooga State Community College is the sole state-supported provider of High School Equivalency preparation and testing in Hamilton County, and beginning in January 2014, students will have a choice of the GED Test or HiSET Test to obtain their Tennessee High School Equivalency Diploma.

Adult Education Director Suzanne Elston explains, “With test fees going up in January to $75 for the HiSet Test and $120 for the GED Test, the test fee voucher program becomes even more important to our students. This voucher program is a great opportunity for groups like the DAR Chapter, as well as individuals, foundations and corporate donors, to make an immediate difference in someone’s life. The High School Equivalency Diploma gives adults access to better jobs, technical training, and college, thus enabling them to provide a better future for themselves and their families.”

Founded in 1965, Chattanooga State is a public community college serving more than 11,000 students from Chattanooga and Hamilton, Rhea, Sequatchie, Marion, Bledsoe and Grundy counties.
