Chattanooga State introduces STEM to 7th- 9th Grade Girls

Chattanooga, TN --- In recognition of National Engineers Week, Chattanooga State Community College’s Engineering Technology Division will Celebrate Awesome by introducing 160 area seventh through ninth grade girls to the benefits and career opportunities available via an education that emphasizes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The girls will attend morning and afternoon workshops that highlight each of the STEM areas of interest. The morning sessions cover science in nuclear energy, technology and robotics, engineering activity, and math and computers. Afternoon sessions focus on science in chemistry, technology in design, electronics, and math games. Lunch will feature a panel discussion with women who have careers in various STEM related industries.
The event was made possible by funding though Title I of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006.
