Heart Smart Saturday at Chattanooga State

The Chattanooga State Community Health Institute in partnership with UT Erlanger Cardiology will host Heart Smart Saturday: Putting Your Heart First on the main campus in the Health Science Center, February 4, 10 – 2 p.m. Although the event is free and open to the public, advance registration is required.
According to Nancy Watts, Pharm D. and head of the Community Health Institute, the Institute’s purpose “is to provide health education for the campus, the public, and continuing education for licensed health professionals.”
Four physicians from UT Erlanger Cardiology will present lectures during the day. Dr. Kinsman “Ted” Wright will discuss “Women and Heart Disease.” Next, “Coronary Heart Disease” is the topic of Dr. Robert Huang’s speech. Dr. William Blalock’s lecture focuses on “Heart Disease Risk Factors & Risk Factor Modification.” Finally, Dr. Christopher J. Klugewicz’s presentation addresses “Sudden Cardiac Death: What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You.”
For those who register in advance, free Cholestech and Glucose screenings are available from 8 – 10 a.m. with same day results. In addition, a light lunch will be served. To register for the screenings, lectures and lunch, call (423) 778-LINK (5465).
