Chattanooga State Receives Gift from Parkridge Medical Center
September 17, 2009 | | Press Release
Chattanooga State Community College and the Chattanooga State Foundation have been the recipients of a major charitable gift from Parkridge Medical Center. Supporting the “We Have the fever!” capital campaign, Parkridge Medical Center contributed $100,000, which was paid over a course of 5 years, to purchase essential state-of-the-art educational equipment for the college’s newly constructed Health Science Center. A technologically-sophisticated facility, the Health Science Center expands the annual enrollment capacity in Chattanooga State’s 20 healthcare programs to approximately 1,000 students.
Dr. James Catanzaro, president of Chattanooga State, accompanied by Grady Williams, general co-chairman for the “We Have the fever!” capital campaign, accepted the donation from Darrell W. Moore, president and CEO of Parkridge Medical Center, Inc.; Brian T. Cook, CEO of Parkridge East Hospital; and Brennan Francois, CEO of Parkridge Valley Hospital. “This generous investment helps fulfill our pledge to design academically strong and relevant health science curricula,” says Mr. Williams. “I know my sentiments are shared by Dr. Catanzaro and the our strong campaign volunteers when I express our gratitude to the community of Parkridge Hospitals for their willing endorsement of our commitment to developing exceptional healthcare professionals.” In recognition of this leadership gift, the premiere conference room of the Health Science Center will be named in honor of Parkridge Medical Center.
The “We have the fever!” capital campaign complements a grant award of $28.5 million from the State of Tennessee. All funds-those provided by the State of Tennessee and those raised during the campaign-were used to significantly impact the health science program at Chattanooga State. The signature project funded by the state and campaign monies was the construction of Chattanooga State’s Health Science Center, the second largest health science educational facility in Tennessee.
