Saturday, May 10, Chattanooga State Community College hosted the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society Induction Ceremony, honoring 44 outstanding adult students for their academic excellence and perseverance. The event, held on the college’s main campus, marked a significant milestone in the academic journeys of these high-achieving non-traditional students.
The ceremony featured a welcome from Dr. Beth North, Vice President of Academic Affairs, followed by an address from Keely Farris, Coordinator of the Center for Teaching & Learning and ChattState alumna. Marsha Goolesby-Barker, Director of Adult Services and Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter Councilor, led the introductions and recognized the 44 inductees with their official membership in Alpha Sigma Lambda.
“We are incredibly proud of our exceptional students and recent graduates who have been inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society,” Goolesby-Barker said. “This prestigious recognition speaks volumes about their dedication, resilience, and academic excellence. Balancing coursework with full-time jobs, family responsibilities, and other demands is no easy task, yet these individuals have demonstrated remarkable achievement. Their success reflects the strength and determination of adult learners at ChattState, and we celebrate this inspiring milestone with them.”
Alpha Sigma Lambda is the nation’s oldest and most respected honor society for adult learners, with over 75 years of tradition recognizing academic excellence.
