“I felt like I was supposed to take classes right after high school, but really had no directions or goals, struggled with classes, and dropped out. TN Reconnect gave me a chance to come back to school after years of working in the real world, to figure out what was really important to me,” shared Brandon Williams, 27, education major with plans to teach high school history.

“After attending UTC for two years right after high school, I took a break and didn’t go back. I really didn’t know what I wanted to become, but knew I wanted to be successful. Once I heard about TN Reconnect, I didn’t hesitate; now, I attend school, work 48 hours per week and have a family. Just go for it,” said Jehoshuah Johnson, 34, non-destructive testing engineering technology major.

“Your mindset of work ethic, career and responsibility changes drastically as you grow into an adult. After working for over a decade in retail and being divorced about that same amount of time, I knew that it was time for a change. Having coffee with a mentor and receiving a TN Reconnect postcard in the mail proved to be a blessing to me. TN Reconnect provided structure and guidance that I knew I was missing on my own. It is worth investing in yourself so that you can in return invest in others,” stated Dana Hutton, 40, mass communications major.

Tennessee Reconnect students continue to receive outstanding support from the Adult Services program throughout their academic journey. “Join me for a TN Reconnect Info Session via WebEx to learn more about the last-dollar scholarship for adults to earn an associate degree free of tuition and mandatory fees,” invites Ms. Barker.
