Spanish Club Donates 2,000 Food Items to LaPaz

The Chattanooga State community is never one to say no when others need assistance. The entire campus pitched in to help the Spanish Club make a significant contribution to the immigrant community through LaPaz. The club delivered 42 well-filled boxes to La Paz containing nearly 2,000 individual food items in time for the beginning of the holiday season. When the food drive ended, the club received additional donations as well. “This is phenomenal! Such generosity makes a wonderful impression of who we are to the community,” shared Dr. Katheryn Thompson, Spanish Club advisor.

This year, the Spanish Club offered a prize to classes for the most generous donation. Winners of the First Annual Piñata prize were awarded to 1st Place: 275 items, Associate Professor Rachael Falu and her students; 2nd Place: 210 items, Assistant Professor Joshua Tucker and his students; and 3rd Place: 200 items, Associate Professor Linda Miller and her students.

The Spanish Club also recognizes participation from Christina Jones, Keri Lamb, Erica Lux, Rebeca Balch, Natalie Counts, Anne Nicodemi, Josh Johnson, Rex Knowles, Gladys Pineda-Loher, Oscar Brock, Bonnie Riggs, Math & Sciences Division, Engineering & Information Technologies Division, Student Center, Writing Center, SAILS Program, Human Resources, Continuing Education, Student Life and Institutional Research.
