Chattanooga, TN (February 11, 2016) --- Conversational Spanish, Life Drawing and Beginning Sewing will be offered through Chattanooga State’s Continuing Education Department in Kimball this spring. All classes will be held at the Kimball Site located at 2100 Main Street in Kimball.

Kicking off February, a class in Beginning Sewing will meet for five Monday evenings from 6-8 p.m. beginning February 22 and ending March 21. Cost is $125. Participants will learn basic sewing techniques using various weight fabrics to fashion unique items for the home. Students will begin with pillow covers and learn how to make flat seams, then move on to drapes and curtains with enclosed French seams. Gain confidence in recovering chair seats and crafting household items such as tablecloths. The instructor will supply two sewing machines, students are asked to bring a basic portable one.

Se habla Español? Acquire the ability to speak a Spanish with no previous exposure to it. Designed for travelers or anyone desiring a working knowledge of Spanish, this class will meet for six Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. beginning March 17 and ending April 21. Cost is $139. Using a conversational approach, this class provides students with immediate speaking ability utilizing a useful and practical vocabulary. Textbook required: Spanish in 10 Minutes a Day, 5th edition by Kristine K. Kershul ISBN#0944502598.

Rounding out the spring, whet your artistic appetite by taking a four-week Life Drawing class beginning Mondays on April 4 through April 25 from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $125. Using a model, students will develop the skills of observation, composition, and graphic artistry in drawing the human figure. Learn various methods of sketching and drawing to help capture expression in body language while learning to finish the drawings over the course of the class. An additional supply list will be sent to enrolled students. These supplies may be purchased from any craft store of choice.
