In conjunction with other leading schools from around the nation, Chattanooga State Community College is holding its second annual National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day (NC3) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. New TN Promise students for the 2018-19 school year will take part in a signing ceremony, signaling their commitment to attend Chattanooga State, in the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Automotive Lab at 4501 Amnicola Hwy. Last year’s event was a huge success.
This national event, sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers, mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to celebrate career and technical education opportunities for graduating seniors. Chattanooga State anticipates signing 50 to 60 high school seniors for a commitment to attend one of the College’s 26 TCAT programs.
More than 100 community and technical colleges around the country are expected to host signing day ceremonies tied together by live, nationwide simulcasts. Interested persons can access the Internet feed through this link: https://youtu.be/XI2aiFu2KeY
“Chattanooga State is thrilled to host Signing Day and to give our upcoming technical program students the opportunity to reserve their spots in programs that will lead to in-demand careers. We are grateful to our business and industry partners for their support and participation in Signing Day. Their participation shows how critical graduates from our technical programs are in meeting our community’s workforce needs,” states Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford.
Industry leaders also are excited about this opportunity because it validates student’s choices for high demand careers and it provides an opportunity for industry representatives to meet these future workers, said officials. Community leaders are participating along with several of Chattanooga State’s corporate partners to show their support of career and technical education.
