Martina S. Harris Named New Director of Nursing for Chattanooga State Community College

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Martina Harris, EdD, RN has been named the new Director of Nursing at Chattanooga State Community College.
Prior to joining Chattanooga State Community College, Dr. Harris was Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In addition to her faculty position at UTC, Dr. Harris served as Project Director for the UTC DREAMWork Nursing Workforce Diversity Initiative, a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The DREAMWork Program actively addressed the nursing workforce shortage and the need to expose students from disadvantaged background to nursing.
“I come to the Chattanooga State Nursing Program aware of its committed faculty and tremendous program success," said Dr. Harris. “I am honored and thrilled to have this opportunity to work with such a great group, and I look forward to joining the Chattanooga State team.”
Prior to her administrative career, Dr. Harris worked in the areas of Neonatal ICU and Labor & Delivery. She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She obtained her masters of nursing degree from Vanderbilt University and doctoral degree from Tennessee State University.
Dr. Harris will join Chattanooga State Community College in August 2013.
