Jennison named Dean at Chattanooga State

Chattanooga State Community College has named Barry P. Jennison as dean of the Business & Information Technologies Division. Jennison brings more than 15 years of experience in personnel management, training development, strategic planning, fiscal management, curriculum development, program assessment, and teaching at community colleges.

“I was attracted to Chattanooga State because of its reputation as a dynamic educational institution, a true business partner, and a leader in technology whose reach extends throughout the greater southeast region. Each time I visited Chattanooga State I became more impressed with its students and staff, facilities, and achievement-focused vision,” says Jennison.

As dean of Business & Information Technologies, Jennison will be responsible for overseeing programs in accounting, business, information technologies, and paralegal studies. According to Jennison, “The Business & Information Technologies Division plays a valuable role in providing relevant programs for our rapidly changing economy. We must continue to provide our students the most current business theories and practical applications to ensure they are prepared to succeed in the work force, both today and tomorrow.”

Dean Jennison earned a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Saint Leo University, St. Leo, FL.

Jennison’s most recent position was at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee where he served five years as dean of Professional & Technical Studies. While at Jackson State he was responsible for associate of science degree programs in accounting, business, and information systems as well as associate of applied science degree and certificate programs in allied health, business, computer information systems, general technology, and industrial technology disciplines.

Jennison has served on several community boards and campus committees. Currently, he is a member of TBR’s Technical Deans’ Council and the Health Science Deans’ Council. In 2006, he received The State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
