IT Classes Being Offered at Chattanooga State Kimball

Kick off a new career in Information Technology by registering for two new IT classes beginning with the fall 2019 semester at Chattanooga State Community College Kimball Site.

CITC-1302 Introduction to Networking will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-8:20 pm. This broad-base course provides an overview of computer networking. Topics will include network models, protocols and services, media and topologies, devices and tools, network management, and network security. This course may align with the outcomes of industry certification.

CITC-1301 Introduction to Programming Logic and Design will be offered on Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:20 pm. This course introduces computers, systems, and the management of information in a business environment while providing a comprehensive overview of the principles of programming and teaches novice programmers how to develop logical thinking, structured procedural and program logic, a and good programming style. It focuses on concepts such as procedural logic, programming concepts and enforces good style and logical thinking, as well as teaching flow-charting and writing algorithms or pseudo code. Students also will learn file management, a brief introduction to Office Applications, internet and electronic communications.

The Networking Concentration A.A.S. degree requires a total of 63 hours. Courses in this program develop network management skills, computer security, programming, operating systems, switches and routers, and server administration. These courses help students prepare for certifications such as A+, Network+, and CCNA. Strong critical thinking skills are developed in a hands-on lab environment along with real world internship experiences. The annual average salary for this career is $52,810.
