Chattanooga, TN — On Wednesday, March 26 from 10:30AM until 12:30PM, the Engineering Technology Division of Chattanooga State Community College will hold an open house to showcase our new initiative - the Tennessee Valley Institute for Materials Joining and Testing (IMJAT). The event will be held in the Center for Engineering Technology, Arts and Sciences (CETAS) building on the main campus. The IMJAT recently completed construction on new state-of-the-art welding processes labs which includes robotic welding equipment. The facility also includes new non-destructive and materials testing labs with associated computer classrooms. Students will have many educational options that can lead to degrees, certificates, and training in the high-demand fields of Welding Engineering Technology and Non-Destructive Testing. The national mean wage for these exciting careers is almost $60,000 per year with nearly two jobs available for every graduate. IMJAT’s programs were developed with federal grant funds from the Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant Program.
