The Humanities and Fine Arts Department are hosting several free events this spring from musical performances to theatre. The Professional Actor Training Program will present comedy improvisation shows in the Humanities Theatre on Wednesday February 1, 8, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. Students and faculty will perform scenes from audience suggestions. It is free and for all ages.

The Chattanooga State Music faculty will present a recital of classical, American, and contemporary composers on Friday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. The event is held in the Humanities Theatre.

Students Jodee Boldt and Aaron Croft will perform a vocal recital on Sunday, February 19 at 2:30 p.m. They will sing solos and duets from composers Handel, Schumann, Debussy, and Sondheim. Both students are candidates for the Associate of Fine Arts degree, which prepares them to transfer to a four-year music university or music program. Jodee Boldt is a mezzo-soprano and Aaron Croft is a tenor.

The Chattanooga State Concert Choir will perform a concert of choral works featuring classical, American, and contemporary composers on Friday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Humanities Theatre. Darrin Hassevoort, dean of the Humanities and Fine Arts Division, will direct it. Hassevoort is an experienced opera singer and is currently the Chorus Master for the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Associations.

The musical group Unheard-of//Ensemble will perform at the Humanities Theatre on Wednesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. They will be presenting newly composed works for clarinet, cello, and piano. The band originated in New York and works to develop new, modern music by living composers and to preserve contemporary classical music. The Unheard-of//Ensembles are currently on tour to teach and perform at colleges and universities across the United States.
