“Chattanooga State Community College is honored to be launching Chattanooga, Tennessee's first student film festival of this kind for high school and college students,” states Assistant Professor Sarah Page. The festival began March 29 and concludes tomorrow, March 31. All events are free and open to the public, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Humanities Theatre.

Film enthusiasts enjoyed an International Film Series film screening of “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya” last night with catered food from Fuji restaurant. Tonight’s hands-on workshop and featured speaker will be Dylan Kussman, a professional actor, writer, and producer. Dylan has appeared in feature films such as “Dead Poet’s Society,” “Jack Reacher,” “Flight,” and “X-2.”

“The final night on Saturday night will give local high school and college students the opportunity to have their works judged by professionals, screened before the community, and receive awards,” shares Page. The categories include Feature Film, Short Film, Feature Documentary, Short Documentary, and Nonfiction or Docudrama. Special awards include a Young Filmmaker Award, directed by filmmakers under age 18; and a Chattanooga State Honor Award in recognition of an outstanding work created by a current Chattanooga State student.

Come to learn more about filmmaking at tonight’s workshop from film professional Dylan Kussman and to enjoy dessert, beverages, and awards at the student film screening on Saturday evening. Contact Sarah Page for more information at sarah.page@chattanoogastate.edu
