Chattanooga State’s Humanities and Fine Arts Division has scheduled eight opportunities to enjoy a variety of music and theatre entertainment during the month of October.

Second year students from the Professional Actor Training Program (PATP) present the ever-popular Wednesday Night Comedy Improv at 7:30 p.m. on October 9, 23, and 30. The scenes are improvised from audience suggestions. Fun for all ages and family friendly!  

The Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Chamber Series Concerts takes on the works of the “Father of the Symphony” who revolutionized the string quartet, Franz Joseph Haydn on Sunday, October 6 at 3 p.m. *Admission Fee is Required* – Tickets can be purchased at Chattanoogasymphony.org.

The Chattanooga State Music Department faculty will present an evening of vocal and instrumental music at 7:30 p.m. on October 8.

The Chattanooga State Concert Choir presents David Huff’s Requiem on October 18 at 7:30 p.m. The concert features performances by Chattanooga State students, faculty, and members of the Chattanooga Symphony. The Chattanooga State Alumni Association will hold a reception in the Humanities lobby beginning at 5:30 p.m. just prior to enjoying this presentation. The Chattanooga State Symphonic Band, under the direction of Nicholas Hartline, will perform selections for wind band on October 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The Lyn-Braddock Duo featuring guest artists Ching-Yi Lin and Andrew Braddock will perform music for violin and viola on October 25 at 7:30 p.m.

The UTC Symphony Orchestra will present a concert at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27 featuring Dr. Ronda Ford, UTC Adjunct Professor of Flute, on Vivaldi’s Concerto for Flute RV 428, “The Goldfinch.” Included in the program are Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, and John Williams’s The Cowboys Overture.  

Chattanooga State music faculty will perform music for woodwind trio for your listening pleasure on October 29 at 7:30 p.m.

The student art exhibition displays drawings, paintings, and photographs exhibited in the CAT and CETAS buildings, and in the Donald F. Andrews Reading & Writing Center on a continual basis throughout the semester. The faculty exhibit on view at the Humanities Gallery includes a selection of recent work from Chattanooga State Fine Arts Faculty, including painting, drawing, collage and transfer, handmade paper, stone carving, gelatin silver and archival pigment prints.
