In conjunction with other leading schools from around the nation, Chattanooga State Community College is holding National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017. New TN Promise students for the 2017-18 school year will take part in a signing ceremony, similar to an athletic signing, in the automotive program’s shop of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at 4501 Amnicola Highway, Chattanooga.

This national event, sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to honor students who are entering a career and technical field and to celebrate the dignity of work. More than 100 community and technical colleges around the country are expected to host signing day ceremonies tied together by live, nationwide simulcasts. “By signing our incoming students to Letters of Intent, we’re telling them that we’ve reserved a place for them and we want them. This is a strong signal to potential students that career and technical education will prepare them for a great career,” said Debbie Adams, Chattanooga State Interim President.

Industry leaders also are excited about his opportunity because it validates student’s choices for high demand careers and it provides an opportunity for industry representatives to meet these future workers. Community leaders are participating along with several of Chattanooga State’s corporate partners to show their support of career and technical education.
