Chattanooga State Hosts TCCAA Volleyball Tournament

Chattanooga State Community College will host the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Volleyball tournament on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 on the main campus, 4501 Amnicola Highway.
The #2 seed, Cleveland State will play #3 seed Chattanooga State on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The winner of that match will play #1 seed Walters State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for the championship.
After securing the third straight regular season region title, Walters State’s 11-member team consists of Amanda Singleton, Ashley Morrison, Jania Hill, Courtney Dotson, Alexis Wakefield, Taylor Tigue, Gracie Smith, Olivia Oxendine, Alaysia McGhee, Aubrey Cobb, and Hannah Daniel. The team is led by Megan Blaylock, head coach and Erika Waycaster, assistant coach. Walters State ended the conference season at 4-0 with an overall 19-7 record.
Fifteen members make up the Cleveland State Community College team under the leadership of Alizabeth Atnip, head coach and Hannah Osborne, assistant coach. Team members include Rileigh Barbour, Celie Patterson, Madeline Dasher, Josie Worley, Lydia Martin, Katlyn Knight, Amanda Taylor, Loryn Wilson, Stephanie Burke, Cydney Brock, Aly Grace Lemons, Hannah Collins, Sydney Allen, Abbie Stinnett, and Kaylee Cornelius. Cleveland State ended the conference season at 2-2 with an overall 10-15 record.
Chattanooga State premiered volleyball as a sanctioned sport during the 2018-2019 academic year. Now in their second year, Janet Tate, head coach and Robin Moore, assistant coach, helm the 11-member team that includes Brieanna Hemphill, Madysun Steele, Ricki Lynn Bickley, Josie Jordan, DaMonique Givens, Bailey Orr, Kayla Ford, Dakota Rawiszer, Elaina Kirkendoll, Emily Redden, and Delaney Bridges. ChattState ended the conference season 0-4 with an overall 8-13 record.
Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford offers a welcome and congratulations to all student athletes participating in the tournament. “Balancing the demands of academics with athletics is hard work, and I applaud them on their accomplishments,” she said.
