Chattanooga State Hosts Event for Prospective Students

February 9, 2010 | | Press Release

Chattanooga State Community College invites the community to attend its inaugural Showcase Reception on Thursday, February 18.  Located in the college’s new Health Science Center on Chattanooga State’s main campus, the event begins at 5 p.m. and will introduce prospective students to the college’s expansive menu of academic majors, career programs, and support services.  The event is open to the public free of charge.

Robin Smith, Chattanooga State’s recruitment coordinator, organized the Showcase Reception.  “We want to encourage all interested individuals to visit us on February 18th,” says Smith.  “Our staff is ready and prepared to address the many interests and concerns that new students have when transitioning into college.  And I want to emphasize that everyone is welcome to attend:  high school students, transfer students, working adults, and individuals seeking retraining for new careers.”

The purpose of the Showcase Reception is to welcome prospective students to campus and provide them with an overview of the Chattanooga State experience.  “The Showcase Reception will be a casual, flexible event,” said Smith.  “The schedule includes a variety of informational sessions that highlight topics such as academic requirements, new technology, emerging careers, and transferring to a four-year institution.”  Smith notes that representatives from financial aid, admissions, academic counseling, and campus life will be available to interact with the public and provide guidance and assistance as needed.
