In Tennessee, the increase of drug-overdose deaths continues to rise. At the end of 2020, more than 1,500 Tennesseans passed away, and during the first half of 2021, there were 80 suspected fatal overdoses in Hamilton County alone. Because Chattanooga State values the well-being of each other, we have collaborated with the Council for Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services (CADAS), to present an opioid awareness program for students, faculty, and staff on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in the Humanities Theatre/Auditorium beginning at 1:00 p.m.

CADAS will be sharing more about who they are and what services they offer in addition to information and testimonials from frontline counselors and individuals who are on the path toward recovery. There will also be a Q&A following the presentation. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to attend this informative presentation to learn more about the importance of drug and alcohol education within our community.

“It is paramount that those within our community are aware of the resources available to them not only for academics, but also for personal health and wellness,” shared Chad Goral, Student Conduct Officer at Chattanooga State. “We have secured an option to have this presentation hosted virtually for students, faculty, and staff who may not be able to attend in person,” added Goral. The link will be sent out one week prior to the presentation.
