Chattanooga, Tenn. --- Chattanooga State Community College will host the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region VII Baseball and Softball Tournament May 6-10. Community college teams from around the state will begin competing on Sunday at noon.

Participating baseball and softball teams include Cleveland State, Columbia State, Dyersburg State, Jackson State, Motlow State, Roane State, Southwest Tennessee State, Volunteer State, Walters State, and host Chattanooga State. Chattanooga State’s Lady Tigers enter the tournament as the number one seed. The team has been ranked number one in the nation since the season began almost two months ago.

General admission for a full day of tournament play is $7. Admission for community college students with an I.D., high school and elementary students is $4 for a full day. An all tournament pass is $20.

During the tournament, Chattanooga State will show off one of its new athletic facilities. All the visiting teams will use the topnotch baseball/softball field house that rivals venues at much larger four-year universities. “The singular mission of Chattanooga State’s Athletic Department is to provide programs and leadership that enhances the physical, intellectual, social and moral development of each student athlete,” says Chattanooga State Athletic Director Steve Jaecks.

Both the softball semi-finals and finals will be played on Wednesday, May 9. After the championship game that begins at 4 p.m., the softball tournament winner will be crowned. The baseball semi-final games will be played on Thursday, May 10. The baseball final is scheduled for Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m.

The site also contains two links. There is one for a live baseball feed and another for a live softball feed on Ustream.tv.

Two emergency phone numbers will be available during the tournament. The Chattanooga State Police office phone number is (423) 697-4467. After hours the office number rolls over to (423) 595-3651 or it can be called directly, thus providing 24-hour coverage.
