Chattanooga State Community College, in collaboration with the City of Dayton, held a room dedication ceremony on February 3, 2022, in honor of Pam Shaver. In an emotional tribute, colleagues, family, friends and students gathered to witness Pam’s husband Greg Shaver, son Chad Shaver and daughter Emily (Shaver) Hooper as they unveiled the plaque dedicating the PS Testing Room to their loved one.

Shaver, a longtime Rhea County resident and a 20-plus year employee of Chattanooga State, passed away in July of 2021, just six months following her retirement. Pam left behind a legacy of kindness and caring to all who knew her.

Exhibiting a great amount of care and concern for students at Chattanooga State was one of Pam’s greatest gifts. Never one to be in the limelight, she was happy to work quietly but efficiently behind the scenes, always with a smile on her face and a kind word to everyone.

Dr. Mosunmola George-Taylor, associate vice president for academic affairs, said, “I’m very grateful to Dr. Rebecca Ashford, Chattanooga State Community College president, for approving the room dedication process to proceed and to Mr. Tommy Solomon, Dayton City Manager, for approving to name a room in a building owned by the City in memory of our dear colleague, Pam.”
