In partnership with the Jewish Community Federation of Greater Chattanooga, Chattanooga State Community College will present a program highlighting the history of Chattanooga’s Jewish community on Sunday, September 13.  Beginning at 3 p.m. in the Humanities Theatre on Chattanooga State’s main campus, the event will feature introductory remarks from Dr. James Catanzaro, president of Chattanooga State, a musical performance by the Chattanooga State Concert Choir, and a presentation, entitled A Tale of Two Jewish Immigrants, by local author Barry Parker.  An open and candid conversation with local Jewish leaders completes the formal program.  Facilitated by Jed Mescon, the forum will encourage audience participation.  Panelists will be Senator Andy Berke, Herb Cohn, Hallie McFadden, Helen Siskin Pregulman, Harold Shavin, and Sanford Winer.

Following the program, attendees will be invited to tour the exhibit Bagels & Barbeque: The Jewish Experience in Tennessee, which is on view in the Chattanooga State Augusta R. Kolwyck Library.  A kosher barbeque concludes the event.
