Chattanooga State Community College has been approved as the first Designated Testing Organization for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Personal Certification, LLC, for the new ANDE-1 Standard for Certifying Non-Destructive Examiners and Quality Control.

“ASME PC is pleased to collaborate with Chattanooga State Community College on the ANDE-1 Standard for Certifying Nondestructive Examiners and Quality Control and we are proud to name Chattanooga State the first testing organization for this important certification program,” said Thomas G. Loughlin, Executive Director, ASME.  “Chattanooga State and ASME are a strong partnership, sharing a commitment to engineering excellence, professional development, and engineering workforce quality.”

Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) is the collection of methods to inspect material and determine whether surface or substance flaws are present that may cause material failure. One of the processes used is quite similar to determining the health of an infant while still in its mother’s womb through ultrasound technology.

Successful completion of each of the steps will allow the candidate to be certified by ASME-PC as Level 2 or Level 3 Examiner. This is a transportable credential, recognized world-wide as a standard for quality in the field on Non-Destructive Examination and Quality Control.
