When Chattanooga State received a $626,624 CCAMPIS childcare access grant from the U.S. Department of Education in late 2018, its Child Development Center (CDC) was able to expand services into the evening hours in fall 2019.

The Childcare Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant supports the participation of low-income parents in postsecondary education through the provision of campus-based childcare services. Chattanooga State’s CDC is now enrolling children six-weeks-to-eight years of age in its evening program, offered Mondays-Thursdays from 5-10 p.m. for the fall 2020 semester.

“We have 10 spots available and children must be enrolled to attend,” says CDC evening program coordinator Kimberly Hines. “Our ChattState parent students could qualify for up to 90% of paid childcare through the CCAMPIS grant.”
