The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) at Chattanooga State announces a Day at TCAT to celebrate the upcoming fall 2021 semester. Day at TCAT will be held Wednesday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET at Chattanooga State’s main campus, 4501 Amnicola Highway.
Individuals may stop by at their leisure to explore the more than 27 programs offered through TCAT – 25 of which can be obtained in one year or less, and which lead to immediate employment. Student service staff will answer questions about how to apply, enroll and fill out the FAFSA. Find out how to make your Chattanooga State experience tuition-free with financial aid options such as Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, Reconnect to Workforce, Wilder-Naifeh Technical Grant, or PELL. Instructors also will be on hand to provide tours and answer specific questions about their programs. As an added bonus, TCAT services such as chair massages and blood pressure checks will be available at no cost.
Skilled tradespersons keep America running on a daily basis but the shortage of personnel in skilled trades remains acute. Individuals that are hoping to fill these positions can acquire the required training in one of the specialized programs at Chattanooga State’s TCAT that are designed to prepare you for immediate employment.
The field of industrial maintenance is just one of the many skilled trades that are hiring. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) noted that the 2020 median pay is more than $54K per year and that the job outlook through 2029 is projected to increase by 13%. Supporting statistics from Indeed, the #1 job site in the world, state that there are currently more than 52 thousand job openings in industrial maintenance.
