Cates to Chair Chattanooga State Foundation

Chattanooga, TN --- The Chattanooga State Foundation recently announced that Alan L. Cates, a partner with Husch Blackwell LLP, is the new Foundation chair. Cates, who will serve a two-year term, replaces Archie Meyers as chair.
In addition to counseling tax-exempt organizations, Cates counsels clients in taxation, trusts, estate planning, and business succession planning and probate issues. Prior to entering private practice in 1975, Cates served as the Planned Giving Officer for the University of Tennessee.
Michael B. Lawley has joined Chattanooga State Foundation Board of Directors. He will serve as a member of the Foundation’s Gifts Review Committee. Lawley is the vice president of technology shared services for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. He brings 14 years of senior management experience to his responsibilities for information technology engineering, operations, security, governance, risk and compliance.
Prior to joining BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Lawley was vice president of information technology and security for Emdeon Business Services, formerly know as WebMD.
