Chattanooga, TN --- The Chattanooga Regional Health Innovation Coalition presents a pharmacy access forum entitled, Bridging the Pharmacy Gap: Navigating Pharmacy Resources for the Uninsured and Underinsured, on November 6 and 7, from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the auditorium of Chattanooga State Community College’s Health Science building. Attendees may choose one of the identical programs conducted each day.
The program is targeted toward pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, physicians, nurses and any other interested professionals. Four hours of CE credit is available for any of these professionals who are interested. The cost is $25 including a box lunch. Chattanooga State will coordinate CE credit. There is no charge for those who do not require CE credit and lunch will be provided.
The forum’s objective is to raise awareness of local, state, and national resources that provide pharmacy assistance to the uninsured and underinsured for those who work with at-risk populations and who are concerned about access to prescription medications for those most in need.
In addition, understanding the role pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can play in medication management, including statutory expectations will be covered. Tips and pointers on accessing various pharmacy resources will be discussed. Health and social service agencies will learn to understand how to help patients coordinate resources to meet pharmaceutical needs. A resource guide to patient assistance will also be shared.
The forum is sponsored by Chattanooga State’s Community Health Institute in partnership with the Chattanooga Regional Health Innovation Coalition, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society & Foundation, and the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability.
For CE credit, contact Chattanooga State’s Office of Continuing Education at (423) 697-3100 to register. If you do not want CE credit, please register with the SE TN Area Agency on Aging & Disability (423) 424-4252. Registration by Friday, November 2 is requested.
