The Engineering and Information Technologies Division at Chattanooga State Community College recently announced that 11 graduates were selected for the UTC ASSETS Scholars Program.

Funded through a National Science Foundation (NSF) S-STEM grant, the UTC ASSETS Scholars Program provides financial and academic support to facilitate transfer degree completion for students majoring in civil, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering.

Up to 15 spots are available per cycle in this competitive process. Chattanooga State had eight graduates qualify during the first cycle and 11 this year. To be eligible for the $14,800 two-year scholarship ($7,400 per year) from the NSF, graduates must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, a U.S. national, or a refugee who has completed a pre-engineering curriculum at a community college in Tennessee or northwest Georgia, filed a FAFSA, have a 3.0 overall GPA, and be accepted and enrolled full-time in civil, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering, graduating community college in the spring or summer.
