On Monday, August 21, Chattanooga State Community College will celebrate the Total Eclipse of the Sun by having a Tiger Totality Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at the Dayton Campus, 200 N. 4th Avenue, Dayton, TN. The event will run from 12 Noon until 4 p.m. on the Dayton Football Field behind campus.
The path for 2017 Total Solar Eclipse goes over Chattanooga State’s Dayton Campus, and totality is expected to last about 2 minutes and 21 seconds starting at 1:03 p.m. and ending at 3:58 pm. There will be a tent with viewing stations and yard games, and Chattanooga State’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health will provide information on “Eye Safety and the Solar Eclipse” from 12-1 p.m.
Chattanooga State alumni and community members are invited to join students, faculty and staff for the festivities. Please plan to bring lawn chairs, snacks and water bottles. Viewing glasses will be provided while supplies last, and all participants will need to sign a waiver.
Chattanooga State’s Kolwyck Library has created a Libguide on the Solar Eclipse found here and a fun trivia game here.
A special thank you to the Solar Eclipse Task Force: Susan Jennings, Dave Stanislawski and Mosunmola George-Taylor, Co-Chairs.
