Chattanooga, TN—MedicTests, a leading online platform for emergency medical education, donated $25,000 to the Chattanooga State Foundation to establish the Charles P.B. “Scobey” Newman Jr. Memorial Scholarship as a tribute to Scobey’s commitment to excellence, community service, and life-saving care.

“Scobey made us all dig a little deeper and be better advocates, friends, and clinicians. We grieve deeply with every member of our local community and the region as we pay tribute to his life,” stated MedicTests’ CEO Joseph Storm. MedicTests is honored to fan the flames of his remarkable legacy and proud to ensure that the next generation of medics will continue to be inspired and benefit from his life’s work.”

Newman dedicated more than 40 years to the Emergency Medical Service in the Chattanooga area, saving countless lives and impacting EMTs and Paramedics in our service area. Newman passed away August 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

The Charles P.B. “Scobey” Newman Jr. Memorial Scholarship will provide a $1,000 award to deserving students pursuing Chattanooga State's EMT or Paramedic programs who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and dedication to serving their communities.
