English as a Second Language (ESL)

ESL Services are dedicated to supporting non-native English speakers in achieving their academic and personal goals. Our suite of services includes:

  1. Advising and Academic Coaching:
    We pair students with advisors and academic coaches who provide personalized guidance and support, helping them navigate their academic journey and make informed decisions.
     
  2. Tutoring Services:
    Students have access to tutors who assist with improving their English language skills. We offer one-on-one and group tutoring sessions tailored to individual needs.
     
  3. Resource Library:
    Our resource library contains a variety of ESL-specific materials, including books, multimedia resources, and software. These resources are available to help students enhance their language skills outside of formal classes.
     
  4. Academic Skills Workshops:
    We conduct workshops on essential academic skills such as note-taking, effective studying techniques, test preparation, and time management. These workshops are designed to help ESL students adapt to the academic environment and succeed in their studies.
     
  5. Technology and Digital Literacy Support:
    Training sessions are available to improve students' digital literacy. We cover essential software, on line research skills, and the use of educational technology tools, ensuring students are well-equipped for the digital age.
     
  6. Language Workshops:
    Regular workshops focus on specific aspects of English, including grammar, pronunciation, writing skills, and conversation practice. These intensive sessions address common challenges faced by ESL students.
     
  7. Community Resource Connection:
    We help connect students with various community resources, including healthcare, housing, and legal services, to support their overall well-being and integration into the community.

    Regular feedback fom students is solicited to understand their needs and the
    effectiveness of our services, allowing us to continuously improve our offerings.

 


Course Offerings

  • (No Credit) ENGL 0900: A foundational English course designed to develop basic language skills.
  • (Credit) ENGL 1010: An advanced English course focusing on academic writing and critical thinking skills.
